About the SpeakerFoong Wai Fong
Partner of Megatrends Asia and author, The New Asian Way.
Partner and collaborator with John Naisbitt for Megatrends Asia, Foong Wai Fong is a writer, columnist and much sought after speaker for world leading companies. She specializes in global and Asian business trends.Based in Kuala Lumpur and travels around the region, Waifong is conversant in major Asian languages. She writes commentary on economic and business trends regularly for publications in English and Chinese in Asia. Wai Fong collaborated with world renowned social forecaster and globalist John Naisbitt on Megatrends Asia, an international bestseller published in 1996 in English, German, Chinese, Korean, Bahasa Malaysia & Indonesia and Thai.
She is a much sought after speaker on the subject of entrepreneurship, Asian business trends, with major global corporations among her clients, including The Economist Conferences, Ericsson, Skandia and others. Her commentary on Asia and China appears regularly on television and other media programs including a special BBC Beyond the Millennium program.
She is active in community and international activities including serving as advisor to the San Francisco based State of the World Forum and Asia Advisor to the International Women’s Leadership Forum at Stockholm, an initiative of Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Wai Fong is also a founding member of a Malaysian Advocacy and Lobby Group, Pahlawan. Waifong is a recipient of the Woman of Distinction Award 1996 (Category : Entrepreneurship) by Avon Malaysia in cooperation with the National Council of Women Organization (NCWO) and the Ministry of National Unity and Social Development, Malaysia.
Waifong holds an Economics Degree from the University of Malaya. She was an executive with AIA, prior to founding Transforma, a leading conference and publishing services marketing company in Asia., and later sold it to the public listed Hong Leong Group Malaysia. Waifong helped founded CittaBella, a leading Asian women’s magazine. Her new book, published in Chinese and English, The New Asian Way: Rebuilding Asia Through Self Reliance, is an international bestseller.
