The Fifth Biennial International Conference of the Malaysian English Language Teaching Association [MELTA] will be held in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from May 24-26, 1999. In keeping with current global developments, the theme for this Conference is "English Language Teaching in Challenging Times".
The Committee invites presentations dealing with innovations in approaches for teaching English in challenging times. We especially welcome proposals of a practical nature which can be presented as
Participants can choose to present on any of the following sub-themes:
- Paper Presentations
- Colloquia
- Workshops and Demonstrations
Creative Methodology Teaching Young Learners Economics and ELT Teacher Education Learner Autonomy English for Special Purposes Materials Production and Use Professional Development of Teacher Educators New Trends in Language Education Challenging Learners through Literature Distance Learning Curricular Innovations Developing the Critical Learner Addressing Language Learning Difficulties The Use of IT in ELT ELT Management Presenter's Responsibility:
Deadline for proposal submission: 15 December 1998.
- The paper offered for this conference must not have been presented at any other conference/seminar in Malaysia or Singapore.
- Presentations selected for the conference must not have their conceptual content changed substantially after acceptance.
- Notification of accepted proposals will be made by 31 January 1999.
- Paper presenters are responsible for providing approximately 60 copies of each handout they will use.
- When two or more people are presenting, the person designated on the proposal form as the one to whom all correspondence should be sent is responsible for notifying co-presenters about the status of proposal.
- All presenters must register for the Conference and pay the registration fee of RM300 / USD100.
